Good Evening Friend,
This week, my sleep has changed. I’ve had two vivid dreams that felt connected to the fact time is moving towards the date I will be undertaking my wilderness vigil. The dreams are a connection to the events and experiences that occurred while I was at Ashton Court teaching and how this relates to the development of my practice at Hitchin Lavender and the journey into the wilderness for the ceremony of the vigil.
One of the skills I've developed working creatively through ritual is the ability to follow the threads to clearly see the story that’s making itself known through the ceremony or ritual.
At this current moment, I don’t feel I am able to fully do that, and I think that’s because it’s the first time in a number of years that I've given myself full permission to focus on my existence and the story that my life is attempting to tell. This is a conscious decision, and I’ve already discussed in depth that I wanted to demark arriving at my fiftieth year in ritual and a renewed commitment to growth and learning. For an extended period of time, I've attempted to use my time in ceremony and ritual to explore external subject matters for the betterment of the larger human story, through the ideas and concepts that have presented themselves and I have felt called to work within. For example, Lightships was a ritual exploring how imagination and creativity are linked to the realm of belief and prophecy, this ritual explored these concepts through the work and life experiences of author Maryann Rada.
It’s basic common sense that it will be a completely different experience to explore complex subjects and ideas that exist outside of our own story.
The systems that our existence is embedded within can be overwhelming to witness in their entirety, it's difficult to remain centered within the experience of the journey through the ritual/ceremony. And I'm reminded for the thousandth time that....THIS IS THE POINT.
