Bright Beltane Blessings.
I’m somewhat exhausted and overwhelmed after running a 10K race this morning and then immediately after facilitating a waking the fire ritual, along the St Michael line that passes through my village.
I managed to share some of the stories that connect me to this place I call home, that I touch upon in the second part of this discussion with my dear departed friend David Blank in Oracle Occult Magazine.
Revisiting this interview, it’s fascinating to me how much has been clarified on the path, there is a never ending deepening of truth when we keep our hearts open.
Let’s dive in…
DB: Talking about the story, the narrative, as a means to pass on the knowledge. Do you also see the story, in the sense, that we as magicians conjure/create our own story, or narrative?
JH: Our myth, yeah! Personal myth. A huge part of my practice is personal myth. Through magick exploring what you are, the archetypes and recurrent themes, and also learning about the time lines of the manifestation that is you, because once you start playing with those techniques and for me what is really interesting is a lot the work that FP has done has been in retroac- tive magick, playing with time and you learn that, and I know that certain scientists are playing with this at the moment, that time obviously is painted as a linear thing a, b, c... but it’s absolutely not. Time is just all around us to be played with so, for example, I’ve had things done, practiced certain types of magick, and things have happened NOW, for example in this timeline, that I can see the effects in the past. So I might be doing something during Dark Nights and I see the reason for something happening in the past, that magick has manifested in my past, so time becomes this great big sheet, this landscape, that you exist within that is not linear and as you go further into that landscape it gets more complicated to explain what you are. When I started my magickal practice, or when I started Dark Nights, it was much easier for me to say,‘ok this is what I do A,B and C and Ra Ra Ra’. Whereas now time has been really kind of... time has been... like in the last cycle when it talks about ‘Time Is dead, Long Live Life’, time to me is absolutely non-linear and things are hap- pening now that are effecting my past and things are happening in the past that don’t go through you as a creation, as a person, it’s literally happening then and it effects you straight away in the future and that kind of a thing.
We did a lot of work in Dark Nights, in cycle three, with future-selves working which is where we take people for a magickal ritual to experience, to meet, themselves in the future and this future self would talk to that person and give set information and letters and stuff like that – core stuff which is quite interesting.
DB: So one could say that we are creating or writing this story but not in a linear sense?
