Your true shape has spilt over; you are a vessel filled to the brim. Drip by drip, it cascades and washes over - a lost liquid of potentiality. The phrase "washes over" strikes a chord within me, a subtle echo of some half-remembered dream of who I was supposed to become.
How do we grapple with the ancestral trauma that our spirits, bodies, and minds are so often saturated with? We are born contaminated by ideologies we never owned or wanted and certainly never requested in the first place. A shadow, the amalgamation of suffering, resembles a dark murk - a cocktail of contaminated magical currents.
The notion that the spirit is eternal and immune to danger or damage is not a beneficial viewpoint, nor is it accurate when viewed from the perspective of ancestor veneration. Neglecting to acknowledge the systems that hold our lineage down in repression fosters nihilism, which we cannot escape. We are not powerful enough.
Just take a look back over your shoulder at your grandparents and consider how they died and the diseases that took them. My Grandad had bowel cancer; my Nan had Alzheimer’s.
The negation of our soul’s work, either through poverty and the systems we are part of or our own lack of action due to fear, leads to sickness, trauma-induced addictions and behaviours, and then to death. We jeopardise our physical bodies - the vessels through which our spirits interact with the tangible world - when we ignore this common-sense fact.
Our spirits project outward to do work beyond our physical form. Regardless of the nature of the bodies we inhabit, it is not only crucial but critical to keep ourselves in this world as long as possible. We should aim to confront the pain and suffering we experience when facing barriers to our true path. It requires a conscious effort, empathy for the past and the future, and a clear understanding that we are all capable of self-loathing induced by the pain of being born into civilizations that neglect our essence at the point of contact, in pursuit of wealth and capitalism at the expense of our humanity.
We need to realise the power of negative thoughts, whether inherited or evolved through our own experiences of grief and trauma. We need to fearlessly witness how the systems and technologies of the modern world are continually attempting to colonise the wonder we hold within. The world’s systems exist as vast wraiths, occupying our psychic space and colonizing our dreams. They are not merely destructive; they are restrictive and designed to inhibit us psychically, where patriarchy and capitalism exert direct control over our spirits. Giant, mindless kaiju, unable to hear or see our suffering, crushing us down into the earth.
I offer hope. There is always a way back.
A methodology and a language of power. Cast the purifying spell you were coded with before you were sent to this world. It requires work - a profound amount of work in the form of prayer, fasting, rituals, and humble collaboration between the sacred and your own choices. You are more than capable of saving yourself and the world.
This is an act of conjuration of mystery and a simultaneous binding and banishment of the mental parasites squatting in our minds. It is also an act of clairvoyance, considering the varying qualities, actions, and rites required to perform this form of séance. How do we invoke the terrifying and wondrous true shape of our souls?
